You were introduced to Donabedian’s S-P-O model of healthcare quality. You need to apply this early quality model to an episode of healthcare you have observed as a provider or a consumer of healthcare services.
Select and describe a specific episode of healthcare service you are familiar with. Respect the confidentiality of the people involved, and do not use real names. You are expected to do the following:
Describe the structural characteristics necessary for this service, such as the organization, physical location, and staffing.
Evaluate the processes that are a part of this treatment episode, such as entry into the system, diagnosis, and treatment.
Determine the outcome of this service. How are good outcomes (quality) and adverse outcomes determined?
This specific episode of care analyzes the relationship between structure and process and between process and quality.
Based on your analysis, evaluate how quality is defined, measured, and reported about this episode of care.
Submit your report in a 3-4-page paper. Format the paper in an APA style, citing at least five (5) current reference sources; two (2) are from peer-reviewed sources in the UIU library. Note that the title, reference pages, and other supplemental information do not count toward the above page count.
