Based on chap 5 “Planning Business Messages” and chap 6 “Writing Business Messages and the PPTs “Writing Effectively” and “Cs of Professional Writing,” write a memo to incoming ENG 302 students summarizing the key concepts you believe new business writers need to keep in mind as they enter the world of business writing. Consider addressing purpose (both general and specific see chap 5), audience(s), organization of information, style, tone, and language. As you know, in the academic world, for example, your audience is your professor who knows more than you. But in the business world, one document can have several audiences: your co-workers, your bosses, and sometimes people outside the company. Each will have a different level of knowledge of what you are writing about and each will use the document in different ways. So what does that mean for you as a writer?
This memo should be at least a one page of single spaced writing broken into short paragraphs. Do not exceed two pages. You may want to use bullets, bold, and headers to make your text more readable.
Use a Memo header. Do not use a salutation like Dear Dr Duerden since you have a memo header. Make sure your subject line tells me the purpose of the memo. Single space your paragraphs and leave two lines between paragraphs. No paragraph indents. Memorandum
